Huawei has launched the Honor brand in India two years ago and it has tasted a fair bit of success if the sales numbers of its phones are any indication to go by. This year Honor released the 5X in India and I have got one for my regular use and I am using it almost for a month and I would like to share my experience on it.
I am an avid traveler and I travel a lot. I always prefer a smart phone which can perform well during my trips. Especially, the Camera & Battery Backup. And I have used Honor 5X for almost a month and it has performed really well on my 12 days family tour last week.
This mid-range smartphone has a little bit of everything that you might be looking for. With a fingerprint sensor, 4G dual-SIM connectivity and the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC, the Honor 5X has a lot to offer for Rs. 12,999.
The Fingerprint sensor is actually a great thing which I liked it. It literally saves your time. 😛 And if you find any issues with finger prints, you can unlock the phone with a pin code. The sensor is amazingly fast to response and the placement is perfect for the index finger. Besides unlocking it provides customization functions like swipe down opens up notification panel etc.
The Honor 5X makes use of a metal body in construction, and unlike the Honor 4X, it does not have a removable back.
On the rear side you have the 13 MP camera section. To the left of the camera you have the dual tone LED flash unit. Below the camera you have the rounded square shaped finger print scanner.
I am not getting much into the specifications and all, because you get all those information from other websites. Let me just stick on to my experience on this device.
My regular phone was Samsung Galaxy A5 and I am using it since Aug 2015 and I was very much happy with the performance. But the battery backup was not up to the mark. I had to carry the power bank all time and i really dont like that. But when I got this Honor 5x on my hand, I really found the battery backup is much better than Galaxy A5. The phone has 3000 mAh battery and it supports the SmartPower 3.0 technology.
The Honor 5X comes with a 13MP rear camera with the Sony IMX214 sensor and is complemented by a 5MP front facing camera. Rear camera gives decent pictures. Although focusing and shutter speed is slower, nothing to complain about. It has a single flash still bright enough. Front cam is also good. Modes for panorama, all-focus, HDR, slow motion video, watermark and audio note are all useful options, and additional modes for beauty, food and time-lapse might have takers as well. There is quick access to the filters, flash toggle, and camera switcher, while the timer can be accessed through the Settings menu. GPS tagging, touch-to-capture, object tracking and resolution can also be controlled through the Settings menu. It’s a decent camera app that may seem a bit confusing because of the number of controls and settings, but in few days you will get used to it.
And i am in love with the Timelapse feature of this phone. Check out a video.
Overall its a very good phone at a very competitive price, and keep the price in mind i can easily suggest this one and Huawei is a good brand and runs hand in hand with google.
