Ullal town is one of the oldest towns in India. In the 15th century, it came under the rule of the Portuguese. Still, the remains of its glorious history can be seen in the beaches and other parts of Ullal.
Karnataka, with its 320-kilometer coastline, has many popular beaches. Among the many beaches in Karnataka, Ullal Beach is arguably one of the best. Stretched out in a hue of blue and green, this beach is a prime tourist attraction of the state.
Ullal is actually a fishing village located at the border with Kerala. There is a beautiful Shiva Temple located near the sea shore. This is One of the most famous temples of Mangalore situated right at the sea shore with a wide beach view.
Ullal beach is well-known for the large rocks called “Rudra Shile”. The historical Somanath Temple constructed during the regime of the famous queen Abbakka Devi is situated on the north side. The Sea is violent here but blue waters nibbling at your feet and the wind in your hair will be a veritable paradise. Try to avoid swimming in this beach.
The Summer Sands Beach Resort, nestled in an arcadia of palms with its red-tiled roof, is of particular interest to tourists. The beach is ideal for swimming and sunbathing and you can indulge in water sports or take long walks along the shore. The local cuisine is amazing, and a definite must-try. Although there are options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians, the latter, in particular, will have an amazing time as this place is well known for its seafood.

Someshwara (Mangalore City Bus services ) Bus stop is situated at a walkable distance from the temple. KSRTC Main bus stand is located in Lalbagh (Mangalore city) at a distance of about 18 Kms from the temple.
By Train
Nearest Railway Station is Ulla, Most of the passenger trains stop here. It is about 1 km from the Temple. Mangalore is the Major Railway Station nearest to the temple located at a distance of about 13 Kms from the temple.
By Own Vehicle
The temple and beach are located just near to the Kanyakumari – Panvel National Highway 66 and very easy to drive through. There is enough parking space available even for small buses and vans.
