Srimath Anantheshwar Temple, Manjeshwar is considered as the most ancient existing temple of the Gowda Saraswat Brahmins in Kerala. This GSB temple is located in the northern part of Kasargod district, just a few kilometers from the National Highway 66 and is accessible easily.
The origin of the Temple dates more than a thousand years back and is very significant for the GSB (Gauda Saraswat Brahmin) community. The main sanctum has images of the three deities. Besides the image of Shiva, there are images of Lord Narasimha (Anantheshwar) and Subramanya.
Festivals
Manjeshwar Shashti, the main temple festival falls on the sixth day of the month of ‘Margshirha’ (November- December), is celebrated as the annual Chariot Festival. On this day, the six-wheeled chariot called Brahma Ratha decorated with flowers and flags is drawn along the street by thousands of devotees. Built in 1834, the ratha with a girth of 53 feet and a square base of 17 feet is a magnificent wooden edifice adorned with carved figures and when decorated, the girth raises to a height of 71 feet. Lord’s idol is placed above the square base and the devotees pull the chariot with shouts of Govinda-Govinda. The chariot can accommodate around 50 to 60 persons.

Facilities for Pilgrims
1. Ananth Yathri Nivas
Yathri Nivas has 27 rooms and two dormitories. Rooms can be booked at the temple office in advance by letter, e-mail or phone. A nominal charge is levied. You can avail the rooms by reaching the temple easily during the offseason depends on availability.
2. Bhojan Shala
Temple has a Bhojan Shala to provide Annadhanam for pilgrims belongs to GSB community.
3. Ashlesha Mandira
Devotees who wish to perform Ashlesha Bali, Sarpa Samskar, Nagapratishta can approach the temple office. Necessary arrangements will be made by the Temple authorities at a nominal fixed cost. Ashlesha Mandir is a separate building for this purpose.
4. Sree Sudheendra Guest House
How to Reach?
The temple is just a few kilometers from Kanyakumari – Panvel National Highway 66. One can reach here easily by a vehicle. There is enough parking space available in front of Temple.
Nearest Railway Station is Manjeshwar and Nearest Airport is Mangalore. Plenty of KSRTC buses are running from Mangalore to Manjeshwar (Click here for timings) and from Kasargod to Manjeshwar (Click here for timings).
